West Gifted Students Storm WVU Campus

A group of West Students are currently in first place at WVU's pumpkin drop. The Pencil Propel group is holding on to a lead with 2 feet 4 inches away from the target and a safe pumpkin. There's about 100 teams left in the competition. Last year's winning drop was near 3 feet from the target.

West's second group, Beautiful Chaos, had a beautiful drop. They hit the bullseye spot on, but their pumpkin did not make the fall.

Update: As of 1:45 pm, West's Pencil Propel group holds on to 2nd place.

Red Ribbon Week

The students at JHW showed their support for Red Ribbon Week. Student Council supported this week by offering different ways to show support. Students had twin day, crazy sock/silly walk day, & 80's day. Today's theme was clash day. Here's a few of our students who participated in the event.

Activities at Carnegie for Your Teen

The Carnegie Library of Connellsville is hosting some clubs for students in 7^th-12^th grade. More information about these clubs can be obtained from the teen link under their website http://www.carnegiefreelib.org/ or by calling the library at 724-628-1380.

·         CAREER CLUB - any students interested in exploring career opportunities and going on various field trips should join the career club at Connellsville’s Carnegie Library.  The first meeting is Wednesday, November 2^nd from 6:00-7:30pm at the Connellsville Library.

·         PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB – any students interested in exploring photography or like to take pictures should join the photography club at Connellsville’s Carnegie Library.  The first meeting is Saturday, November 5^th from 1-3pm at the Connellsville library.

Parent Conferences

Parent Conferences at Jr. High West will be held on Wednesday, November 16^th from 4:00pm until 6:00pm and on Thursday, November 17^th from 12:30pm until 3:00pm. 

End of the Nine Weeks

The last day of the first grading period is Friday, October 28^th.  Report cards will be distributed to students on Friday, November 4^th.  Students must have all cafeteria charges, library fines, and other outstanding obligations fulfilled to receive their report card.
