Students in Mrs. Miller’s math classes used M&M’s to learn the principle of combining like terms. Students grouped the M&M’s according to color, then wrote algebraic expressions to describe taking away M&M’s or combining piles of like colors together. At the end of class, they all got to enjoy eating the tools of their learning.
